Small is Beautiful Festival 2017

Small is Beautiful Festival 2017

This festival - happening between June 8th and June 11th - will be a celebration of sustainable ideas inspired by E.F. Schumacher’s seminal work. It combines hands on workshops, an inspiring arts and music programme, hard-hitting debate and inspirational talks.

Leading minds in engineering, sustainability and social change combine with a buzzing music and arts programme. Carefully curated content allows students, artists, academics and the general public to explore the role of innovation and art in building a sustainable future.

Chris Coates - a member of the Diggers & Dreamers team will be taking part in a discussion on the opening night (tentatively titled 'Utopia Today') and convening a panel discussion on Taking Control of our Housing. The D&D bookstall will also be going along. Chris is also Vice-chair of the International Communal Studies Association, founder member Forgebank Cohousing in Lancaster, board member of the UK Cohousing Network, and the author of two books, Utopia Britannica and Communes Britannica.

There is a range of accommodation options to suit all budgets. You can choose to stay on site in some of CAT’s eco-friendly buildings, or camp just down the road in a fully-equipped campsite. All accommodation bookings are on a first come first served basis. There is limited space at the campsite so book soon to avoid disappointment!
