Anam Cara Community
We are four households looking to buy a farm/smallholding/land with others in SW Wales (Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire). We would like to establish an Eco-community that embraces deep respect for each other and the land. We envisage each household having their own dwelling, with the majority of the land being worked communally to grow food with provision for individual plots, running sustainable businesses, and managing our own water and woodland. We will use permaculture principles and hope to earn our livelihoods from the land and on-site courses, whilst we accept that we may have to work outside if needed.
We want to do this to make ourselves more resilient as food and energy prices increase. We also want a slower pace of life and to distance ourselves from the superficial nature of modern life. We want to spend as much time as possible in the natural world, being connected to the seasons and the elements and working with our hands. We see living in an Eco-community as way to share resources, work, emotional support and friendship as well as having freedom, individual space and respect for privacy.
We are currently viewing land with farmhouses and out-buildings..We hope that the land will have sufficient south facing areas, with its own private water supply and woodland.
We have approx £200k in capital for the initial purchase. We are keen to hear from two groups of people, those with capital to help buy the property and those that would be interested in living in the community and renting. Additionally we invite interest from parties who may wish to invest whilst unable to currently live in the Eco Community, such investment will be legally acknowledged.
We appreciate that many people do not have the capital to invest in this sort of project, and it is very important to us to have a diverse and intergenerational group of members as the community becomes established and we therefore welcome interest from all parties.
