Woodhead Community
After 15 successful years as a small family and land-based community near the Findhorn Foundation, change is at hand in the Woodhead Community. Our children are growing up and moving on and in order to be self-sustaining into the future, we are looking to expand our group by 6-8 people. Ideally, this would include families with young children, singles and/or couples.
Our committed core group currently consists of three couples aged between 40 and 60. For our next step we intend to get planning permission for two new homes, and to enlarge our communal kitchen/ dining-room. An old farm building will be replaced by work and storage spaces.
We have rentable living space available in a caravan, and two rooms in one of the family houses. We would particularly like to hear from people willing to invest in new building and who are keen to be part of the next phase of planning our future together.
We endeavour to balance the needs of individually earning a living with the joys and challenges of being in close relationship, sharing resources and growing our own food. Besides the sharing of community responsibilities, we also engage in artistic, political and ecological debate and action. We encourage clear and honest interaction, and a growing personal awareness of what moves us spiritually.
We want to continue our shared life with a broad cultural and age range of people. We envisage retaining rhythms such as shared cooking for evening meals, food-buying, car-pool and working together once a week. We also welcome new inspiration and input.
