Laughton Lodge
This entry is penned as we are still clearing up from another successful summer party marking eight years in residence. As an indicator of the philosophical distance we have travelled, the rules for this year’s dog race were changed to ensure that it was no longer the fastest, youngest dog who won.
We are continuing to develop in many other ways. We have undertaken further refurbishment of our common house and now have a radio station and a premises licence and a fully equipped professional kitchen. Our ‘new to you’ minibus stands in the car park and has already proved its use in collecting teenagers from all their end of term events. And this month saw the opening of ‘bunny world’ and a new horse shelter to replace that lost to fire in the autumn.
This summer will see another summer activity week for young people from here and the village - we get a real buzz from 50 young people working with a wide range of professional artists, sports people, cooks and others, making use of the full site.
