Hoathly Hill Community
Hoathly Hill Community is a group of neighbours living on the Hoathly Hill estate in West Hoathly, West Sussex. This beautiful setting houses about 60 people of all ages including families, couples, single and elderly people. In addition to the dwellings there is a hall and other buildings for artistic, educational and social activities and over 22 acres of gardens and fields. The Community consists of people in diverse professions and life-circumstances who have sought to create a supportive home environment for themselves and each other. Several initiatives are run by Community members including therapeutic, artistic, horticultural, educational and commercial activities. The main source of inspiration is drawn from the insights of Rudolf Steiner into the nature of the human being.
Community membership is open to anyone who supports and wants to participate in the aims of the Community. Anyone buying a lease becomes a member of Hoathly Hill Association Ltd, a private company which owns and manages the freehold of the whole estate. Prospective occupants must become members of the Community, and will be appointed a contact person by the membership secretary to help them through the process, which involves getting to know other Community members and its institutions. The photo shows the boilerhouse containing a furnace for local woodchip fuel which supplies heating and hot water to the Community.
We offer limited opportunity for woofers on our CSA scheme - we have no dedicated visitors accommodation and not many members have a spare room.
