We are a Co-housing Community in a very quiet and beautiful part of rural Derbyshire close to the Peak District National Park. We have 8 homes, owned on 999 year leases, the co-op owning the freehold of the grade II listed farmhouse and barn conversions. There is 20 acres of secluded woodland, river, orchard, allotments and pastures, managed organically. There is communal space in the process of conversion in one of the barns. We are as ecological as we can manage/afford having a biomass boiler heating all our homes and a reed bed to process our sewage.
We are a diverse group of people including singles, couples and families. Most people work off site but some work from home. The children range from 14 to 18 years. We are sociable but not in each others’ pockets.
We have community work days and business meetings once a month. Every decision is taken by consensus. We expect people to participate regularly in co-op meetings but they are not compulsory.
We offer guided walks, especially for larger groups, but don’t accept WWOOFers, volunteers or overnight visits, as wedon’t have people available to host them.
We are looking for people who would like to share this beautiful setting with us as tenants of one of the members and who would like to have and be sociable neighbours. This would be a good way to explore living at Earth Heart, that doesn’t require the commitment of buying in.
