Redfield
Redfield is an intentional community situated in North Buckinghamshire. We live as a single household in a large old mansion, set in 17 acres of gardens, woodland and pasture, surrounded by farmland. We have sheep, pigs, chickens and bees.
Life here involves a lot of sharing, commitment, responsibility, building maintenance, gardening, animal management, logging and having fun. The ground floor of the house and the grounds are communal, with private rooms and units on the first and second floors.
We all have part-time jobs and pay a monthly rent to the co-op; we commit a minimum of 16 hours per week to the community.
In recent years, members’ outside jobs have included accountancy, forestry, lecturing, planning, nursing, teaching, lorry driving, and care work. Members also run their own businesses from the Community, these currently include making and selling canvas tents via World Tents, teaching music and “LILI” the Low Impact Living Initiative, a non-profit organisation who run a range of environmental courses.
Redfield is a registered Housing Co-operative and we make all our decisions by consensus at our fortnightly meeting.
We welcome visitors on our quarterly visitor days, as WWOOFers or as volunteers during our 2 maintenance weeks. We also run “Living in Community” weekends for an inside view of community living.
