Land share
Hi, I am looking for like minded people who would be interested in acquiring some land together, and utilizing it to make our lives more sustainable and self sufficient, by growing veg, fruit and nut trees, having chickens for eggs, and some horses. We live in Okehampton and would not want to travel too far; this project can start very small, but may grow, grow,... ;)

Tiny house movement
Hello, I have become very interested in the tiny house movement that started in America. I currently live in London and I am particularly interested in how the idea can be applied to urban settings. E.g. I have been looking at purchasing a garage site and converting it to a two or three story tiny home. I was just wondering if there are any other individuals out there also interested so we could get together and bounce ideas off each other, share research etc.

New life somewhere warm...
We’re off to Europe in March to find a house/some land to start a new community probably in Spain but will also check France, Portugal and Italy. We don’t have a strong ideology, just a feeling that people are meant to live with other people, rather than in little boxes shopping in supermarkets etc. We’d like to be as sustainable as possible so are interested in people who can offer skills and/or skills... building, farming, good cooks... We have a three year old and a new baby and are quite relaxed about who joins us. Let us know if you’re interested or have any tips on making this work.

Sheffield
Hello! I previously posted on this site about finding people to house share with, being very open minded with where I wanted to live. I have now decided i would like to base myself in Sheffield, where i have friends. I am 21, in the 3rd year of university in Canterbury (so i’ll be finished by May). I like my music/ festivals/ blogging and taking myself on walks!
I was brought up without a TV (not a big deal to me but a big deal to many), with rather arty/ liberal (but that i labelling them...) parents. I often dream of living in a yurt with my own animals....
It would be lovely to find some similar people. I look forward to hearing from you!

People wanted for eco-project in Portugal
Hi all, my name is Pace. I have purchased 7.5 hectors of land close to the town of Nisa in the east of Portugal. The land is owned out-right, there is no land Tax to be paid at all. I spent 7 months on the land digging swales and clearing the overgrown areas. There are 2 well on the land, these may need cleaning before being usable for drinking. I am looking for people that would be interested in building sustainable housing with, aquaponics greenhouses and reconditioning the land for sustainable living. People would need to invest money into this project to purchase water pumps and building materials. If you would like more details please get n touch.

Broke Baby Boomers
I would like to get together with other mature age singles with a view to renting a small rural property with a large house anywhere in GB. We share while we each individually build businesses to support ourselves through our “retirement”. This is for individuals who currently find themselves without resources to buy into an existing community but who have plenty of good ideas and the health and drive to implement them. The broad general approach to life is “live and let live”, with a healthy eating and sustainable bent. No evangelists. I have started a private LinkedIn groups so we can share ideas as a group so if you reply to this ad I will send you an invitation to the group.

Mid Devon in August
Hi, I’m looking for one or two mature people, who are committed to moving to a rented rural house in mid Devon . I have to move out by 7th July, so it’s important that people considering this are willing to meet up, or skype, to discuss needs and to share the tasks of finding a place to live. So, fairly dynamic and committed people needed. I’m hoping to share with one or more people who are generous-hearted and tolerant and live and let live.
I am 64 years old with 3 cats, not much into heavy gardening, like my own space and also living with others and sharing. I am a homeopath and train 2 groups abroad, in Serbia on the Pathwork spiritual path. Look forward to hearing from you. Lynnie

Looking for people to start low (or no) budget community in Scottish Highlands
Hello, I’m a single female in my twenties, anarch/social ecology minded, vege, from Scotland - looking for other people of any age/persuasion/number/with or without offspring to build a collective home with - probably initially renting somewhere rural with a bit of land and see how we go? I get my income from research work and study (from home) but would love to be in beautiful surroundings with good people, working on a bit of land, living and cooking together in a way which is economically sustainable, not just ecologically. I know a lot of existing communities require at least c£100k to get a foot in the door, but I think it’s entirely doable to find good (and similarly poor) people to build something from nothing (and not necessarily have to own something, although if that was possible at some stage, who knows).

Like minded people ??
We are a couple with a young daughtr age 9 years. I am 48 and my partner is 58. We are in the process of selling our boat and would very much like to buy some land preferbly in the East Kent Canterbury area but this is negotiable! Buying land is expensive and we would like to meet or initially discuss with anyone else a plan to joint purchase some land and, build or buy a lodge caravan? etc. A community would be a lovely way to live amongst like minded people, who like us want out of the rat race. We are spiritually minded people with no specific religious beliefs! Although if we were going to go in a direction I would say Buddhism! Would love to meet like minded people with an interest in buying some land and starting something that will allow us to be ourselves and live more naturally! We are open to ideas! Please contact us to discuss further, or if you know of any one with similiar ideas for this area we would to hear from you!

Joinery student in London looking for less concrete and more jungle!
I am in my early twenties, very easy going, friendly and accepting and study joinery part-time with the ambition to use it towards self-sustainable living. I’m very eager to learn more about agriculture, woodworking, spirituality, more or less anything that will help me bring something to a rural community or help me develop as a person. Naturally happy to volunteer, go pretty much anywhere, work with anyone. No strict criteria, just want to learn and meet like-minded people, experience life outside the narrow streets in which my life is presently contained! Just wondering whether anyone could use my help after the winter (when my course ends) or get in touch should you share my interest. I have some ideas in the pipeline but have to content myself with daydreams for the time being! Would love to get involved with a spiritually minded, progressive community, especially whilst I am in London but anywhere really, once my course is finished I have no anchors. Your companionship and ideas would be a blessing. Peace and light.

Eco-project in Spain
Hi, my name is Ana. I would like to contact people who can relate to this idea of a project (and also have some experience in land care and some financial stability): to create a harmonious space in the countryside in Spain, as a project of life and work. Having Permaculture and De-growth as a basis for it; fostering both our economy and the local one through our activity on the land and our personal skills, apart from trying to develop some other activity to support our income as it could be a little farm shop of local goods and produce.
As if it was a living laboratory, I would carry out hands-on research on varied permaculture practices and eco-friendly solutions (horticulture, overall practical designs, as well as on some economical aspect, finding here inspiration on Günter Pauli´s The Blue Economy). Fostering local currency/LETS or goods exchange in the area. I am lucky to count on Permaculture and Eco-building expert, Luciano Furcas for counseling and guidance.
I can also see the didactic aspect of the whole project as a good example of a model and hosting visitor stays at specific times, which can enable joyful involvement as well as social exchange and some extra support.
I have been living in the UK for a while and have been wwoofing there recently, so my English is good. I am currently wwoofing around Spain as well as making contacts and land searching (there is good chance for land granting)

Moving to West Wales
We are a family of four including two young boys, one age 5 and the other a toddler, currently residing in Stroud, Gloucestershire.
We have been loosely exploring the possibilities of self-build and community living for over a decade. Our experience includes support for the Lammas Eco Village over the past four years and contributing to the formation process of Ostara Eco Hamlet, a low impact, self-build group based in the Stroud area.
Now we have decided to move to West Wales and lay down roots. Wales appeals to us in different ways: the spirit of the land, the people, the language. We find ourselves drawn to the area where Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion meet.
We don’t have a large stash of money and we are not homeowners. Our self-employed work and interests are based around what we love: Yoga, Music, Art, Permaculture, Civil Rights and Living Well. We enjoy our independence and we also appreciate what community living can bring, including raising our kids in a supportive and open-minded environment where different perspectives are respected.
Our vision is to co-create a small-holding of three self-build, low-impact dwellings with others who share similar, i.e., resourceful people who are ready within themselves and have the means and motivation to enable this.
If this is of interest we’d be happy to talk.
IN ADDITION: We’re looking for accommodation in North Pembrokeshire in the interim. Good references.

In search of a simple life in a warm climate
Hello, My vision is to form an intentional Community with the following aspirations.
1. Escape the ”Rat Race”, bad weather and in as far as possible, over bearing rules and regulations.
2. Live a simple low cost life free from utility bills.
3. Aim to be self sufficient by producing our own food and energy.
4. Live beside the sea as part of a small fishing village.
I am looking for a small number of like minded people to explore with me, the possibility of delivering my vision. In 2007 I took the first step when I bought a suitable piece of land on the island of Santiago in Cape Verde. I am willing to explore all ideas but my preferred plan would entail the building of a group of low cost independent dwellings arranged around a common piece of food producing land.
Living costs would be low but in order for the community to be sustainable, some independent means would be advantageous. We could explore the possibilities of income producing initiatives for the members. Some examples would be: Tourist services such as hiking guides or tour operators; Fishing and diving trips; Craft or jewelry production; Internet or Web based businesses; Writing; Light manufacturing; Horticulture.
Capital required 25,000 Euro. This would cover the cost of a one bed dwelling with access to shared food production. Joint ownership is a possibility to reduce capital outlay, everything can be discussed and evaluated. To further explore the possibilities, please feel free to contact me.

West Wales
“We often miss opportunity because it is dressed in overalls and looks like hard work.”
Looking for other hard working people to buy and share land and woodland in South or Mid Wales. With some south in its aspect and a natural water supply. To set up a couple or few modest low impact dwellings, living within the resources that the land can sustain comfortably.
My hope would be to divide it into reasonable plots with some communal areas. To share the labour, tools and experience required to build, plant and create a healthy agroforestry system based on permaculture principles. Probably doing this below the planning radar until we can establish lawful development after 4 years, or under Tan6 “One Planet Living”. But if the planners dont bankrupt you then the building regulators will trample on your dreams.
I can offer extensive woodland management experience, some horticultural, farming and building experience and a lifetime of collecting skills and knowledge relevant to this dream, including some misspent years in local authority. I have a constant curiosity regarding nature and ways of harnessing its bounty with a reverence for its beauty.
I dont believe that full self sufficiency is achievable or desirable but would like to live frugally on what we can make or grow for ourselves with modest incomes generated from fairly traded external work.
I am married although no children as yet.
We are looking for other skilled/semiskilled and motivated individuals with some capital and a similar dream.

Time for a change? investors wanted for retreat center and eco commune 2012
Are you a permaculturist, holistic therapist looking to join a small team, making a retreat center in mountains in Spain ... capital investment around 75k would in return buy you a home, business opportunity and an organic lifestyle growing food and laughter! Economic crisis? Toxic foods? A never ending worry of what’s around the corner? Our center would run retreat weeks to sustain our income ... with a system of raw foods and aquaponics ... no pesticides, with regular yoga, chigung, massage, sound healing, tipees and yurts as well as earth buildings ... with a natural spring water.
In addition a supermarket of trees providing foods for us to pick everday as well as battering with the community. The project would be a two and half hour journey from UK and climate will be max 28 in summer to 5 degrees winter ... air quality in mountains is rich in oxygen without pollution.
If you have a good heart, enjoy the company of others but also need your own space? Drawn to this then feel free to contact me ... also open to discussing part time or non residential opportunities where you invest in your health and stay for periods receiving healing in exchange for financial support in getting center off ground helping to purchase the solar and geothermal so we are living 100% free from energy bills. Im a yoga teacher and have successfully run an international business for 16 years and we currently have some very talented people on board wishing to manifest this shift, and looking to purchase property with extensive fertile land as well as buildings in excess of 250 to 750 euros ... in so creating a lifestyle we can only dream of alone ... together we can build a brighter more meaningful existence x. om shanti

In search of a tribe....
We are a French-Dutch couple (Kim, 36 and Fred 32),and our two kids, Mayi and Leo, 2 and 4. We have decided to move to Bulgaria! We are going to rent a house there, to feel the village of Voditsa and the surroundings. When we decide to stay, we would like to buy a house and some land. The aim is to live with the least amount of money as possible, being self sufficient and being able to offer our kids a gentle and more natural way of life where we only take what we need and give back what we take. We’ll be there by the end of April.
To make a long story short, here are some keywords describing our vision and values : Freebirth, baby wearing, co-sleeping, nappy free, extended breast-feeding, natural immunity, non-violent communication, unconditional parenting (hard one for me! Fred), radical unschooling, wool fetishist, ringing cedars series, continuum concept, communal living / looking for our tribe, to reconnect with Nature within and without. But most and for all to just enjoy each others company and have fun ...
In the long term we’d like to create a food forest based on permaculture and bio-dynamic principles. Couple of goats for raw cheese and milk, chickens and geese for eggs, a donkey for fun and transport. We’re also inspired by Mark Boyle, the moneyless man and we’d love to create a community based on something else than money. We believe in a resource based economy. Where giving is unconditional.
Well thats about it in a nutshell!! Most important thing for us is that the children can be children and grow up in an environment where the can just BE who they are ... We have come across so many intentional communities that aim to be or are green, self-sufficient, low-impact etc, but in all of these places children still go to school, or are raised in a conventional way ... we believe that it does not matter how green you are and how much you want to take care of the planet ... you can only change things in the core by changing the way we conceive, birth and raise our children ... all the rest is a bonus! We are not meant to raise our children in a nuclear family, so we really want to find our tribe and have an extended family in close approximity to us ... an old indian saying says: it takes a village to raise a child ...
So we would like to invite you to come and share our lives, for a day, a week, a month, a year or a lifetime in beautiful Bulgaria ... in Light and Love.

Want to join, existing or startup anywhere in the U.K.
I have two narrow boats and was looking for somewhere to moor and live money-free. However, I am also willing to sell up and put the proceeds into a community, existing or starting. Am only interested in loving, sharing kind of people, probably Pagan, and they would need to be “rebelious”, as in ignore “planning permission”, or anything to do with this greedy, money, so-called “society” which thinks one does not have a right to exist, unless they pay for it!! I can do electronics properly, right down to small circuit design and have spent since 2004 working on living off-grid as far as possible renewably. Solar pv, filter my own water, etc. I am NOT looking to “buy” any land, or into any land - land is free, only labour/energy has value, and only once someone can show me who it was that expended his energy making the “land”, will I agree to “pay” for his labour. My offer is to put all “money” I get from selling the boats towards building our own energy and water filtration systems to be shared by the whole community. I can sort out communications and electricity supply to everyone and help with sand filters etc. I am unable to do heavy manual labour any more, but am willing to give whatever time and energy I can toward doing my bit. Even a “mobile” community would suit fine, one where we pick up our stuff and move if things get too hot to handle, but the accent would be to prevent the “authorities” from stealing what little we do have. I am currently under threat from the Waterways Charity who are adamant that they will steal my workshop boat and home because I do not have the funds to “pay” for the licenses to exist on “their” water, so need to do something within the next month or so. I would ideally like to keep the boats, they are in excellent condition and would serve me the rest of my life, and some-one else for many years once I don’t need them any more, but selling them is an alternative. Please do get in touch if anyone would like to discuss further. I have been looking at FMOTL - Free Man On The Land - stuff, but am more interested in just “disappearing” than spending time permanently arguing for my right to exist, am a very peaceful, tranquil sort and would rather just “leave” than face confrontation.
Thanks for reading this, Love, Peace and tranquility.

Making Home Ownership Possible for All
Hi, I’m a single dad aged 64 with sole care of son age 14. No mum involved. I am currently renting a ghastly & substandard doll’s house off a banker landlord in Kent, having previously owned my own house for forty years. I am a journalist by trade. I am now seeking to set up a housing co-op which will be designed to enable tenants to own increasing equity to ultimately build towards their own personal home ownership. The plan is to start small, but expand it by continuously buying properties to rent (mainly to first time buyers who can’t yet afford to buy) and to distribute any profit amongst tenants to enable them to build equity to enable them to eventually buy their own property.
Under the proposed legal framework of an officially accredited Co-operative Society or Industrial and Provident Society (registered with the Financial Services Authority) local authority housing allowance can be used by those on benefits for them to become tenants and thereby gradually accumulate an increasing proportion of home ownership. In order to get this moving as rapidly as possible, it is intended that the Co-op first just rents a larger house in its own name in which any occupants will be just ordinary tenants.
I have been living in communally shared accommodation for nearly all my life until recently. I know how it works and how to make it work ! This is intended to just be the first step, which will then greatly assist the second stage of onward development of purchasing the first property which might probably be for just one person or family to live in independently, and thereafter continuing to buy further properties.
The general aim here is not necessarily to organise communal living in the longer term unless some people want to specifically do that. A simple explanation of the objective is that it is intended to be an entirely new and alternative method of home purchase for people with no savings at all and on low incomes who would normally be forced to rent, often using local housing allowance because they are on benefits. At present, building societies & banks do not consider these sort of people for mortgages. But this proposed Co-op would borrow the funding to purchase the homes, effectively providing the mortgage for each tenanted property, each of which would only require a tenant paying rent. Part of this rent would accumulate to provide an increasing lump sum for the tenant to use for the purchase their own home.
The long term ambition might be considered to be to ‘cut the legs off the banks and the greedy private landlords’ by removing a vast portion of their mortgage & renting business and transferring their bloated profits to the lower end of the housing market to help poorer people into their own home ownership. But, unlike an ordinary private landlord keeping the profits for himself, this would be a Co-operative or mutual organisation and each tenant would be a voting member and profits would accrue to tenants over time for them to use as they wished should they choose to leave at any time. So, put simply, a member would start as just a tenant, possibly without any funds other than the ability to pay the Local Authority Housing Allowance, and then accrue increasing ownership of a property by means of a carefully constructed legal framework.
I am looking for a number of people who might be interested in helping me set this up. I have everything required for the entire organisational framework - all the legal stuff etc at my fingertips. I just need two things to make this work.
a) other people to join and form a group
b) money, of which there are many potential sources other than me or other potential members. although it wouldn’t hurt if any member had contributory funds, although it must be stressed this is not necessary; just helpful !
Contacted me via the form. I look forward to hearing from you.
