New life

Hi all. I would like to inquire about joining a commune, mainly as a way of getting out of the rat race. I’m a 32 year old man, with a background in small maintenance jobs and groundswork. Perhaps there’s a place out there for me. Get in contact I’d like to hear from you.

Cornwall May 10th to June 8th

Hello there, I am looking for somewhere very peaceful and quiet, to rent, in Cornwall, from May 10th/12th to June 8th/10th. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I would need a decent desk and chair (as well as a bed!) Electricity and running water would be good too! All ideas welcome.

Artist

How to start, the big question. I am a poet, painter and percussionist and have worked in these fields for 30+ years. At 46 I need to escape a rat race I have never been a part of. I am a very practicle sort and can turn my hand to just about anything apart from hieghts. Any communes need an artist?

Couple seeking place to live/community

Hello, We are Richard and Ruth, a active and healthy couple in our early 40’s, currently living in a small farm based community in Mid Wales.
We are looking to move to a more central-ish location in the UK for work and family commitments. Looking to rent/buy within a community that has an interest in sustainable living and own produce.

Looking for the farming life

I am looking for a like minded farming community who grow vegetables and herbs for food and raise animal for the table. The closest thing I can think of is River Cottage or It’s not easy being green. I have vegetable growing experience and grow tired of living the multi-storey flat life in the city and long for a more self sustaining existence.

We are a young couple with pet cat and baby on the way looking to get out of the modern life and live a self sustained life instead, and get off benefits. We would like to join an existing community where we can work for our keep.
In an ideal situation we would need internet access as this is how my partner manages his depression.

Home wanted

We are a married couple seeking a low cost and low impact way of life in Ceredigion or South Powys-preferably as part of a community. We are open to a range of ideas and living arrangements, and have a small amount of capital-for the purchase of land, accommodation, whatever.
We would also consider rent-free accommodation in return for labour.
I run music groups and philosophy groups, and my wife is a medical herbalist. We are fairly experienced at working on the land.

Work, rest and play

Hi, i would love to be part of a community lifestyle, or similar with few or lots of like-minded people. I’m nearly 42, and want to wake up surrounded by open fields, work hard whatever you need me to do, and then relax in a beautiful rural area. I need to have thinking time to make my next step in life whatever that may be. Willing to work hard in exchange for a bed-whatever and wherever that may be. I’m on state benefits at present, but can voluntary contriute to food, etc. Ideal places: Dorset, Devon areas. Please Email or give me a call on 07852316524. Thank you!. ALSO: I wondered if anyone would have the same idea as me and to start our own community as I am sick of the society i live in, and would love to build my own community, any ideas gratefully received. Contact me by text/email.

New family need a home pronto

We are Anna-22, my partner Eddy- 23 and my daughter Dolly Eva who will be three in April. We are also expecting another baby girl at the end of June and have two Dogs and two cats.

We currently live in a Geo-dome at the bottom of a friend’s garden, just off a really busy road in a very urban area of Cambridge. The dome is lovely however there is no running water or toilet and it was only ever supposed to be a temporary arrangement- we really need to move on as soon as possible and we would rather be somewhere more rural by the time the baby comes along.
We are ideally looking for somewhere we could work for board, or somewhere with very low rent.
I have spent some time living in a community before and we currently share use of the kitchen and bathroom facilities, as well as gardening and chicken minding duties, with our four friends who live in the main house. So we are no strangers to living co-operatively.

We are vegans and freegans with a sugar, caffeine (and mostly alcohol!) free diet, we avoid supermarkets like the plague (unless we are raiding their bins!) and shop at the local organic market and independent health food co-op. We are used to living a basic, green lifestyle and previous homes include narrowboats, caravans and converted vans. We have a wealth of experience in animal welfare and other interests include herbal /wild medicine, foraging, raw food, bread making , music, Zen Buddhism, attachment parenting, art, crafts and general self sufficiency!
Neither of us drive but being in Cambridge we go everywhere by bike or public transport.

We are hard working and have a lot to give and want to live with and learn from other like minded people.

Long term work exchange needed!

Hi there! We are a married Danish/English couple interested in learning more about permaculture and sustainability. Currently we are living in Copenhagen, Denmark, and are planning to move permanently back to the UK at the end of 2013. Collectively we have 6 years experience of living long term in intentional communities (The Findhorn Foundation and Camphills) and we look forward to offering our skills and actively participating in a new live-in community setting.
Rosie is a craft artist, currently working in childcare. Her experience includes running a community kitchen, environmental education for children, art gallery work, and writing press information and small articles for a community/ international workshop center website. Currently she also writes a blog about creative projects and sustainability.
Mads is a trained social worker who has supported children, young people and adults with a range of physical and mental disabilities, both in formal institutions and in community. He has experience both in classroom teaching and in empowering vulnerable and socially excluded groups through gardening, farm and sport-based activities. Mads also has experience of maintenance and farm work including animal husbandry and indoor/outdoor repairs.
We are looking for a residential work exchange opportunity for around 6 months in a farm-based community, starting late 2013/early 2014 (we have a little room for flexibility!). As we currently have longer-term intentions to live independently, it is important to us that there is on-site internet availability and that we are able to attend job interviews later on if the opportunity arises. In return we offer two willing, creative, happy, responsible and engaged workers who can contribute a wide range of skills and commit fully to community life!
