Gaunts House Community
The community at Gaunts House is informal and more inevitable rather than intentional. We are dedicated to profound learning, and to providing a peaceful, inspiring environment for others. Our structure includes members, guests, students, trainees, volunteers and employed staff. Our purpose is to seek, find and follow our individually right paths, and to provide care and support for others. The work in our community consists of running every aspect of a country house, from the organic garden to housekeeping, as a venue for residential courses of a creative, healing and spiritual nature. Basic jobs such as washing up are allocated by weekly rota, while larger and more diverse projects are taken up individually, or by group or department. While there is no defined doctrine here, a faith in the timeliness of all things enables life to run fairly smoothly, if sometimes a little chaotically. After all, with Divine chaos, it’s the divine that counts.
Regular meetings cover the day-to-day practicalities. Meditation is encouraged, both individually and collectively; as is spending time in the beautiful grounds and countryside, communing with nature. Life here is sometimes intense, often challenging, and very rewarding. We welcome anyone to come see for themselves, and we look forward to meeting you.
