Pennine Camphill Community
Our main area of work is supporting a college for students with learning disabilities. We’re quite a mixed bunch, some who have lived here for twenty years and some who come just for a year to help out. There’s always quite an international flavour within the community which we encourage. Co-workers living within the community have their everyday needs met but don’t receive a wage. There are also others working at Pennine but living locally.
Our farm, garden and traditional craft workshops create unique ‘hands on’ learning for our students. We are also home to Wakefield Riding for the Disabled, a project we have run jointly for over ten years. We are also home to A Tools for Self Reliance workshop.
Most of our students are residential and share our houses on an extended family basis.
