L’Arche London is a diverse and inclusive Christian-ecumenical Community of people with and without learning disabilities. We welcome people of all faiths and of none.
Mutual relationships are at the heart of our Community. We are committed to high quality support and to developing our relationships with the local neighbourhood and professional services.
We recognise and celebrate the unique value of every person and our need for one another. In the joys and struggles of our daily life together, we strive to be a sign of hope and justice.
There are four community households in the West Norwood area of South London, where between seven and fourteen assistants and people with learning disabilities share daily life.
In addition, there are several smaller houses shared by two people with support as they need it.
We run a Craft workshops that offers sessions in weaving, art, music, drama and candle-making. We also have a Garden workshop. Both provide work and therapeutic activities for community members who have learning disabilities.
Assistants support people either in their home (one of the community households) or at work. Assistants come from all over the world, whenever possible for a minimum of one year; some have made the community their long-term home.
